Abdominoplasty

For many people, the abdomen is a very bothersome area of the body. Some men & women work hard to improve their shape, with good results just about everywhere except their tummies. Abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck “, is designed to correct a protruding abdomen resulting from weak abdomen muscles, weight gain or pregnancy. abdominoplasty can dramatically smooth and flatten the abdominal area and achieve the firm, toned look that they desire.

Candidates for Abdominoplasty
The best candidate for abdominoplasty is women & men who are in relatively good shape and have fat deposits or loose abdominal skin that has not responded to diet & exercise. Women who have had multiple pregnancies or people who have lost a large amount of weight are also good candidates for abdominoplasty.

Surgery & Recovery
Abdominoplasty is a procedure that removed the excess skin and fat around the midsection and tightens the abdominal muscles. The surgery takes 2-3 hours under general anesthesia and begins with an incision made from hip bone, creating a flap. The skin is then separated from abdominal muscles, which are tightened and stitched into their new position. Next, excess skin is removed and a new belly button is made and abdominal muscles and remaining skin are tightened and the incision is stitched closed Dr. Ghorabi may perform liposuction in combination with the abdominoplasty surgery to create a toned appearance. The incision is carefully placed low on the abdomen so that the scar will not be visible when wearing a swim suit or other midriff-baring garment.
Abdominoplasty effects major muscle groups, so recovery time is considerable. There is a fair amount of discomfort associated with abdominoplasty and may patients advised using oral pain medications and muscles relaxants, for postoperative pain control. Recovery time is 1-2 weeks but patients need to refrain from strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for one-two months.

Lipomatic

Laser and ultrasound assisted liposuction, like traditional liposuction aren’t a weight control method or a fix for obesity. They are used to help contour your body in those areas that are not responsive to diet and exercise such as saddlebags or a paunchy stomach. Also like traditional liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction is most often used to reduce fullness in your: Abdomen Ankles Arms Buttocks Cheeks Chin Hips Knees Neck Thighs Upper arms Waist Traditional liposuction, one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery typically starts with the administration of some form of anesthesia including local anesthesia, intravenous sedation, or general anesthesia accompanied with the infusion of a saline solution into the area of the body where liposuction will be performed. The solution contains medication to minimize pain and bleeding. Then, a small hollow tube attached to a vacuum is inserted through a small incision into the fat layer beneath the skin. It’s moved around to break up the fat, which is then sucked out of the body. Laser assisted liposuction takes advantage of the power and technology associated with medical laser beams to liquefy the fat which is then sucked out of the area.

Ultrasound assisted liposuction uses a special cannula that vibrates very rapidly and gives off ultrasound energy. As the cannula passes through the fat cells, that energy liquefies the fat cells, which are then suctioned out. The ultrasound can be administered either above the skin (with a special emitter) or below the surface of the skin (with an ultrasound cannula). Medical devices are used for a variety of medical procedures, but only certain devices are FDA approved or cleared for liposuction. Before considering laser or ultrasound assisted liposuction, it is important to determine that the device being used is cleared by the FDA.

Liposuction surgery sculpts your body, eliminating unwanted pockets of exercise and diet-resistant fat from the buttocks, hips, love handles, saddlebags, thighs, calves, ankles, breasts (including male breasts), back, arms and neck. Liposuction is often combined with other procedures to create the desired shape and is one of the safest and most popular cosmetic procedures.
For certain individuals, diet and exercise will never get rid of stubborn pockets of fat. The following are some common reasons why you may want to consider liposuction:
You have a minimal amount of excess skin and good skin elasticity. Loss of skin elasticity with age can compromise liposuction results, but if your skin maintains elasticity, age alone is not a contraindication for liposuction surgery.
You have localized deposits of fat in your abdomen, arms, thighs and/or neck, which may be the result of heredity and do not disappear with exercise and diet.
You are physically fit, no more than 20 pounds’ overweight and your weight are If you are planning to lose a significant amount of weight or even gain weight (for example, due to pregnancy), this is not the time to undergo liposuction.
Keep in mind that liposuction does not remove cellulite and cannot tighten loose skin. Your surgeon will be able to recommend other procedures to improve those conditions.
If you are in good general health and have a positive attitude and realistic expectations, you are most likely a good candidate for this procedure.

Risks
Infection, asymmetry, the rippling of the skin, pigmentation changes (hypo/hyper), injury to the skin, fluid retention and/or excessive loss of blood and fluids.

Recovery
The patient usually returns to work after five to fourteen days. More strenuous activity may be resumed after two to four weeks. Full recovery from swelling and bruising may take one to six months depending upon the amount of fat that is removed and the areas that were treated.

Breast Lift

Breast lift, technically called mastopexy, is surgery that raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Enhancing your appearance with a breast lift A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from: Pregnancy Breastfeeding Weight fluctuations Aging Gravity Heredity Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift will reduce this as well. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is youthful and uplifted.

What breast lifts don’t do Breast lift surgery does not significantly change the size of your breasts or round out the upper part of your breast. If you want your breasts to look fuller, consider breast lift and breast augmentation surgery. If you want smaller breasts, consider combining breast lift and breast reduction surgery.

Is it right for me? Breast lift surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image.

A breast lift is a good option for you if: You are physically healthy and maintain a stable weight You do not smoke You have realistic expectations You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts sag, have lost shape and volume Your breasts have a flatter, elongated shape or are pendulous When unsupported, your nipples fall below the breast crease Your nipples and areolas point downward You have stretched skin and enlarged areolas One breast is lower than the other

As women age, their breasts can lose shape and begin sag. Pregnancy-nursing, weight gain, the natural aging process, genetics, and gravity can all take their toll on women’s bust line. Mastopexy or breast lift surgery has become a popular option for women who want to restore youthful shape and position to their breast. A breast lift, after done in conjunction with a breast augmentation, can eliminate this inevitable sagging. If the nipple-areola complex has become enlarged, it can be restored to a smaller size at a preferred height on the breast.

Candidates for Breast Lift Surgery
A woman whose breast have lost volume and drop due to age, pregnancy, breast –feeding, weight fluctuations or other reasons are good candidates for mastopexy surgery. to ensure long –lasting results, it is recommended that women interested in breast lift surgery, wait until they are finished bearing children to undergo the procedure, because the result may be affected by later pregnancy, and the surgery may hamper one ability to breastfeed.

Surgery & Recovering
During a breast lift, excess skin and tissue are removed and the breast is lifted, tightened and reshaped. Once the excess skin and tissue have removed the nipple and areola and moved into a higher position to provide a natural look.
A mastopexy is done under general anesthesia and takes 2-3 hours. Incisions extend around the areola and as a vertical line down the lower pole of the breast and often horizontally along the bottom of the breast.
Although breast lift alone will cause breasts to look fuller, for some patients we choose to have breast implants inserted at the same time as their breast lift surgery to create a more curvaceous appearance.
After breast lift surgery, patients are fitted with a surgical bra and instructed to rest for a few days. Strenuous upper body activity may be limited for the first month and after times a supportive bra is worn around the clock for the first several weeks. risks of breast lift include bruising, swelling scarring, and loss of feelings in the nipples, however, the risks are rare and breast lift is considered to be a highly safe and effective procedure to restore your breasts to their youthful shape.

Breast Augmentation

Feeling good about the way you look can make a dramatic difference in all aspects your life. For many women having full, shapely breasts can provide a feeling of confidence and femininity.
Advancements in breast augmentation surgery in recent years have enabled surgeons to customize the procedure according to patient’s desired outcomes and body type.

Candidates for Breast Augmentation
There are several reasons a woman may choose to undergo breast augmentation. Breast augmentation enhances the body contour of a woman who is unhappy with her breast size. This procedure can also correct a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy or balance a difference in breast volume after pregnancy or balance a difference in breast size. In certain cases, where the breast has sagging or droopiness, a simultaneous breast lift may be necessary.

Surgery & Recovering
During breast augmentation, an incision is made around the areola or in the crease where the breast meets the chest. The implant may be placed under the breast tissue or beneath the chest wall muscle.
Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia and takes about one to one and a half hours to complete. Stitches absorb on their own but the incisions are usually covered with tape for 1-2 weeks. most patients return to routine activity within the first week but aerobic activity and strenuous upper body activity are limited for 3-4 weeks .as with any surgery. there are possible risks associated with breast augmentation the most common complication is capsular contracture, which may require removal of the implant. Other risks include infection, implant rupture, and nipple sensitivity. However, the complications are extremely rare and most women are extremely pleased with the results of this breast augmentation.
Getting breast augmentation is a big decision and it is important to become fully informed. The procedure involves many options that will require you to make key decisions, so it is essential for you to consult with Dr. Ghorabi so that you can achieve the results you desire.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is performed after the breast has been removed or distorted due to breast cancer treatment or as another disease. The goal is to rebuild a natural looking breast with symmetry to the other breast. Depending on the circumstances, breast reconstruction can be performed immediately after mastectomy or a delayed procedure, anywhere from several weeks to years following mastectomy. Today, new surgical techniques give plastic surgeons the tools to create a breast that closely looks and feels like a natural breast. With the rising awareness of these modern advances, more breast cancer patients are a candidate for reconstruction. Breast reconstruction typically requires more than one operative procedure, with additional surgeries to optimize symmetry or rebuild a nipple areolar complex.

The procedure has no known effect on the recurrence of cancer. If your oncologist should find a new tumor during your regular follow-up visits, your reconstruction should not interfere with either chemotherapy or radiation treatment.

Breast reconstruction is usually performed in a hospital under general anesthesia. There are several different methods of breast reconstruction, although the three most commonly employed techniques include expander/ implant reconstruction, Iatissimus flap reconstruction, and TRAM flap reconstruction. Consultation is necessary to determine which method best meets individual patient needs.

Sometimes the procedure is performed on the remaining breast after a mastectomy on the other side. Your surgeon may recommend breast reduction, breast lift or breast augmentation to help achieve symmetry with a reconstructed breast.
